After some time with a Planck-like CSTC40 Kael Augusto aka Dwctor decided that he wanted his own ergo split keyboard. The result is Kaly42:

I strongly was against a thumb cluster where I could only type the two inner thumb keys and I wanted it to have a small mascot, like the Ferris Sweep had! – Dwctor.

Specs

Built from scratch in Ergogen & KiCad, the core ideas that the author tried to follow when making this keyboard was for it to be affordable, cute and have all of the keys be reachable:

  • Blackpill controller
  • Choc v1 switches
  • TRRS connector
  • Type C cable to the host

If you, like me, thought that a caliper is an unlikely contender for being a cute mascot, we were both wrong:
