NEXUS

A 3D-printed, handwired split prototype by Fraawlen: NEXUS.

Fraawlen shared the 3D files of a handwired split prototype: the NEXUS.

The layout is designed to be compatible with as many keycap sets as possible. In addition, each half is intended to be a separate, independent keyboard.

There's actually a reason for [the left hand arrows], I often sit sideway in front of my computer, with the left side facing the screen. So the right hand is far away. That's why I pushed most of modifiers, navigation and media keys on the left side so that as long as I don't need to type text, I still have full control of my machine. It's also why I have a shift key between meta(sys) and ctrl, so that I could do combos like ctrl-alt-shift-alpha with a single hand too – fraawlen.

Specs

  • 69 keys
  • handwired
  • Pro Micro
  • Weipu SF12 series connectors
  • 3D printed case with built-in tenting
