Creators! Feel free to tip me off about your keyboard related projects to bring them to 100K readers.

The Wave by Etienne Collin (aka etiennecollin or EKINOOX) is a small, reversible split, inspired by the best features of renowned keyboards like the Ferris, Ferris Sweep, Swoop and Sweep36.

I'm super excited to share my latest project with you all - The Wave! (…) The Wave is a small, ergonomic, split keyboard that I’ve crafted to tackle some of the common issues I've found with other keyboards – Etienne.

The switches can be soldered, or hot swapped using either Mill-Max or Kailh hotswap sockets. Diodeless build for simplified construction. Reversible PCB for lower fees when ordering.

The most interesting part of the project is probably the connector between the halves: Mini DIN 4 (S-Video) connectors can be used for hot swap connection, without the issue TRRS may cause when disconnecting the cable while the keyboard is powered (accidentally shorting VCC to GND or data pin).

Specs

  • 36 keys (3x5+3)
  • Choc V1 switches, Choc spacing, hotswap (optional)
  • reversible PCB
  • diodeless build
  • Elite-C controller
  • Mini DIN 4 connection (between halves)
