How is the ranking calculated?
In this early stage the order of shops on the Keyboard Vendor Top Lists is based on two indices:
- Profile page visits
- Clickthroughs
This means the more pageviews a profile page of a specific store registers in the Keyboard Vendor Database the higher it climbs on the chart.
Similarly, clicking the outgoing links benefits the ranking.
(FYI, don't click the links the whole day though, the system is slightly more clever than that.)
Some more factors I'd like to introduce later:
- Profile page completeness
- Store website content (how informative it is?*)
- Shop response time (to inquiries)
How often is this updated?
These lists are daily snapshots and are updated each day.What date range is taken into account?
On a given day you will see the last 7 days' results (compared to the previous 7 days to calculate the moves). This means you see some kind of rolling averages/sums.
(As of writing this there are no 14 logged days yet so temporarily you see 3/4/5/6-day periods.)
*On store websites
While I've been updating the vendor database in the past few days, I came across a handful of websites where you can't even figure out where the shop is located. I mean not even the country.
Or if the shop ships globally.
Or there's no About us or FAQ page. Some stores indicate just a Discord link as contact.
On the other hand, I like when the identifiers of the business are indicated (ID and TAX numbers, real name of owner, postal address, etc). So I will incorporate this in the vendor scoring.
In the future, this will affect these vendors' position on the top list.
If you are a vendor and want to improve your chances/score, as a first step, provide enought data to complete your vendor profile.
