YADS (Yet Another Dongle Screen] is a project shared by Jan-Philipp Fischer (aka janpfischer/itsjpf). A dongle screen for ZMK, similar to carrefinho's Prospector.

I started this project after struggling with the Prospector display module. While I really liked its design and approach, I ran into repeated issues – especially with the display hanging on keyboard disconnects and reconnects – itsjpf.

This project provides a Zephyr module for a dongle display shield based on the ST7789V display, the Seeed XAIO BLE controller and the LVGL graphics library. It offers various widgets for current output, displaying layer, mod, WPM, and battery status, as well as brightness adjustments via keyboard, automatic dimming after inactivity, and a customizable status screen for ZMK-based keyboards.

Features

  • Active layer display
  • Modifier status display
  • Connection state indicator
  • WPM counter
  • Deactivate screen modules via config
  • Brightness control
  • Configurable display orientation
  • Idle timeout, automatic sleep mode
