Ilya Leonov aka lemosbor posted his most recent Lapa, an interesting split keyboard-mouse with 36 keys and built-in mouse sensors. The original edition was featured here in 2023, in KBD#124. V25 this time means the 2025 version, not the 25th iteration.

Hello everyone! I've greatly improved my keyboard compared to last year's model. For the year of use, I have a lot ideas that I tested on the previous keyboard. I've implemented the best of these ideas in the new Lapa – lemosbor.

Lapa (Лапа) means paw in Russian, which refers to the fact that you use this keyboard "without moving the hands" – at least not raising, hovering and reaching for the mouse all the time.

This approach is pretty rare but not unique, the Mouseky and the Keymouse reflect similar concepts.

Features

  • 36 keys (3x5+3)
  • MX switches
  • RP2040 MCU
  • Built-in mouse sensor (ADNS9800)
  • 5-way switch, solenoid.
  • Custom oval keycaps.
  • The wrist-rest is part of the keyboard and is located higher than the main row keys.
  • The thumb keys are located on a separate part of the case, much higher than other keys.
  • Keywell with per-column arcs.
