Julian Yap (aka jyap/jyap808) released his Pando58, a 58-key columnar split keyboard driven by RP2040 Zero controllers. Named after the Pando tree.

Here's the keyboard I've been working on for the past few months. I designed the PCB which I've made open source. Featured is my daily driver custom case which is made from stainless steel sheet metal (cut by SendCutSend) and 3D printed middle section – Julian.

There's also a 3D-printed case, as well as layered FR4 sandwich version.

Features

  • 58 keys (6x4+2/3-ish split)
  • MX switches, hotswap or soldered
  • RP2040 Zero controller
  • RJ45 Ethernet interconnection
  • flexible enclosure options
  • Vial firmware

The board features RJ45 Ethernet for interconnect instead of TRRS audio cables which allows you to hotplug without fear of shorting the MCU.
